Jacques Guerlain decided to call his creation Mitsouko, in homage to the heroine of the novel "La Bataille" which, at the time of its publication, was a great success. Mitsouko, a beautiful married Japanese woman, is secretly in love with a British officer. The Russo-Japanese War breaks out in 1905. Mastering her feelings with great nobility, Mitsouko awaits the outcome of the battle with dignity.
Jacques Guerlain's incredible idea, which gives this perfume all its modernity, is to have dared to combine Chypre and a fruity Peach note.
Created by Raymond Guerlain, the legendary "upside down heart" bottle features the characteristic details and sinuous curves of Art Nouveau. A true technical feat, its avant-garde heart-shaped cap evokes the delicate romanticism of this perfumery icon.
